Reimagining the Thompson Center
Unit two of the junior STEAM class Urban Planning is called Power. We have been learning about electricity and how it works. We visited with multiple companies involved in the process of making a building, from an architecture firm to a construction company. We also went walking together as a class to look at buildings downtown to pick one for this project. I had originally been thinking about doing the Chicago Board of Trade building or Chicago Theater, but while we were inside of the James R. Thompson Center I really loved the sort of retrofuturistic appearance of it. You can learn more about it in the slideshow below.
