Doing My Own Research!

    One of my two electives this term was a research writing class called Do Your Own Research. My classmates and I each picked a topic to write a research paper on. I set out to answer a question about gift economies originally, but over the course of the term switched my target to look more at money over time. My class took a trip to the Harold Washington Library and everyone picked out a book to utilize in our research. I read Debt: The First 5000 Years by David Graeber, and it was very influential in my final paper. My assumptions about history had been challenged, and I wanted to write something that would challenge my reader as a result.
