Why are Evangelicals Anti-Abortion?

The humanities class for the second trimester of senior year is Equality. My classmates and I have been learning about race, gender, and class, along with how inequality in America targets people at the intersection of various identities. For the culminating project we all made zines, and to research this we talked to people at the Chicago Public Media Group and visited Buddy, a store that sells work by local artists. I chose to make my zine about the engineering of Evangelical opposition to abortion. This topic is very interesting to me because it is assumed that Christian resistance to abortion is a given, but it's actually relatively recent. The research process was engaging due to the many things I hadn't heard before being revealed in the research process. Check out my zine below!

I tried to use visually engaging images and put at least one picture on every page to keep the zine interesting to look at. I also wanted to use lots of different things that signify the time period this was happening in such as presidents and new products to help contextualize the time period for the reader. The internal investigation for this unit was probably one of the coolest ones I've had all of high school and while getting used to a different medium for this project was difficult I still found it to be rewarding.
