Une Saison de Sucre

This fall, I pursued an independent study course combining two interests I have, French language, and baking. I started taking French classes in first grade, and continued through eighth grade, but stopped in ninth. I had the opportunity this past term to design my own French course (with the help of a wonderful and extremely helpful faculty advisor), and decided to combine it with another interest I wanted to improve in, with hopes of strengthening both skills. I chose nine different French baked foods to try to prepare, with recipes in French and as little translating as possible. To supplement language learning, I used Duolingo, and a French grammar workbook. The photos of most of what I baked are below, although I did forget to photograph some, along with the inevitability of my family disappearing some projects before I could photograph them.

Not pictured: Genoise, chiffon cake, macarons, gougeres

All in all, this was a very interesting and engaging course, I really feel like I learned a lot and improved my skills in these subjects, and I hope to continue with it even after the end of this course, and I think my family does too.
